Kathua, June 18: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr Jitendra Singh, addressed a mammoth gathering at Village Khilochak, Mandal Chann Arorian, in Jasrota constituency as part of the nationwide “PM Modi Government – 12 Saal Bemisaal” programme. The event witnessed the presence of MLA Jasrota Rajiv Jasrotia, MLA Kathua Dr Bharat Bhushan, former DDC Vice Chairman Raghunandan Singh Bablu, BJP District President Updesh Andotra, senior leaders Manjeet Jasrotia, Nandan Khajuria, Mandal President Roni Sharma, besides several Sarpanchs, Panchs, party office-bearers and hundreds of prominent citizens.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the last twelve years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have brought about a historic transformation in governance, ensuring that development reaches the last person in the queue. He said that the Modi Government has redefined public service delivery through transparency, accountability and technology-driven governance. Programmes that once remained confined to files and announcements are today reaching beneficiaries directly, resulting in greater public trust and improved quality of life across the country.
Dr Jitendra Singh emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir has emerged as one of the biggest success stories of New India, witnessing unprecedented growth in infrastructure, connectivity and public welfare. He said that the region has seen rapid expansion of road networks, railway connectivity, healthcare institutions, educational facilities and rural development projects. Referring to Kathua district as a gateway to development in Jammu and Kashmir, he noted that villages which once struggled with basic amenities are now experiencing visible socio-economic progress due to focused government intervention and sustained public participation.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to inclusive development, the Union Minister said that welfare schemes launched during the last twelve years have empowered women, youth, farmers, senior citizens and economically weaker sections. He stated that initiatives such as housing, sanitation, healthcare coverage, financial inclusion and entrepreneurship support have transformed the lives of millions of citizens. He urged people to become active stakeholders in the nation’s growth journey and contribute towards realizing Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”
Dr Jitendra Singh further said that the success of the Modi Government lies not merely in implementing schemes but in creating opportunities for citizens to participate in governance and development. He lauded the role of Panchayati Raj Institutions, local representatives and grassroots workers in strengthening democracy and ensuring effective implementation of government programmes. He said that public participation remains the cornerstone of good governance and called upon party workers to continue reaching out to people through meaningful engagement and service-oriented initiatives.
The Union Minister also highlighted the significance of environmental conservation and sustainable development. Under the nationwide “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, he planted saplings along with other dignitaries and appealed to citizens to plant trees in honour of their mothers. He described the initiative as a unique blend of environmental responsibility and emotional commitment, urging people to make tree plantation a mass movement. The campaign, he said, reflects Prime Minister Modi’s vision of combining development with ecological stewardship for future generations.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Jasrota Rajiv Jasrotia said that the twelve years of the Modi Government have brought remarkable changes to rural and border areas of Jasrota constituency. He noted that enhanced road connectivity, improved drinking water supply, better healthcare facilities and numerous welfare schemes have significantly improved the lives of local residents. Rajiv Jasrotia praised Dr Jitendra Singh for consistently advocating the developmental aspirations of the region and ensuring that the benefits of central schemes reach every household. He reiterated his commitment to accelerating developmental works and addressing the genuine concerns of the people.
In his address, MLA Kathua Dr Bharat Bhushan described the Modi Government’s twelve-year journey as a period of decisive governance and unprecedented development. He said that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed transformational changes in infrastructure, public service delivery and economic opportunities during this period. Referring to Kathua’s growing importance as an industrial and educational hub, he said that focused policies on employment generation, entrepreneurship and youth empowerment are creating new avenues for progress. He urged party workers to strengthen grassroots outreach and ensure maximum public awareness about welfare programmes and developmental initiatives.
Earlier, under the BJP’s Jan Sampark Abhiyan, Dr Jitendra Singh met Retired Principal Chuni Lal Sharma and appreciated his contribution to education and social upliftment. The Union Minister also visited Mahant Mohan Giri Ji Maharaj, seeking his blessings and discussing issues concerning social harmony and community welfare. The programme was attended by several Sarpanchs, Panchs, prominent citizens, BJP workers and supporters, reflecting strong public participation in the party’s outreach campaign.
