Jammu, August 19, 2026: Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) organized its Annual
Prize Distribution Ceremony 2026 at the Auditorium of Government College for Women
(GCW), Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, to recognize, honour and celebrate the outstanding achievements of its student-athletes in various sports disciplines.
The ceremony was organised under the supervision of the Department of Student Welfare
(DSW) and coordinated by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Cluster University of Jammu. The event witnessed the presence of a galaxy of distinguished dignitaries, senior university functionaries, Principals of Constituent Colleges, Deans of the University, Associate and Assistant Deans of Student Welfare, Faculty Members, Physical Directors, Coaches, Sports Officials and a large number of students and award-winning sportspersons from the University&Constituent Colleges.
The programme was graced by Sh. Sat Paul Sharma, CA, Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, J&K, as the Chief Guest. Sh. Vikram Randhawa, Hon'ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Bahu Assembly Constituency, was the Guest of Honour, while Sh. Kuldeep Gupta, General Secretary, J&K Kabaddi Association, attended as the Special Guest. The function was presided over by Prof. K. S. Chandrasekar, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu.
The programme commenced with a welcome address and presentation of the Annual
Sports Report by Dr. Vinod Bakshi, who highlighted the University's achievements in various sporting disciplines and lauded the dedication and commitment of its student-athletes, coaches and Physical Education personnel. He emphasized that sports play a vital role in developing discipline, leadership, teamwork, resilience, confidence and a healthy competitive spirit among young people.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. K. S. Chandrasekar, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor,
congratulated all the award-winning players and appreciated the concerted efforts of the
Department of Physical Education and Sports, the DSW team, coaches and the administrations of constituent colleges in promoting sporting excellence. He emphasized that sports constitute an integral component of holistic education and are instrumental in nurturing character, confidence, leadership qualities and a spirit of perseverance among students.
The ceremony also featured an impressive Yoga Display, showcasing the discipline,
concentration, flexibility and physical fitness of the participating students. This was followed by the felicitation of outstanding sportspersons who had brought laurels to the University through their commendable performances at various levels. Consolation prizes, medals and other honours were also presented to deserving players representing the University's Constituent Colleges.
Awards were presented to outstanding sportspersons from Government College of
Education (GCOE), MAM College, SPMR College of Commerce, Government College for
Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar, and GGM Science College in recognition of their achievements in different sporting disciplines.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Overall Championship
Trophy to GGM Science College, Jammu, for securing the maximum number of prizes and
emerging as the overall sporting champion on the basis of its performance across various
disciplines.
In his address, Sh. Vikram Randhawa, Honble MLA, congratulated the players on their achievements and appreciated the University authorities, coaches and Physical Education personnel for providing students with opportunities to participate in sports and develop a competitive spirit. He observed that sporting accomplishments not only bring recognition to individual players but also enhance the prestige of educational institutions and the University as a whole.
Chief Guest Sh. Sat Paul Sharma, Honble Member of Parliament, congratulated the
student-athletes for their outstanding achievements and appreciated Cluster University of Jammu for providing a platform to acknowledge and encourage sporting talent. He stressed the need to motivate young people to participate actively in sports and pursue excellence with dedication, discipline and perseverance. He also lauded the Universitys efforts towards creating opportunities for students to excel beyond the classroom.
In a significant gesture of support towards the development of Cluster University of
Jammu, Honble MP Sh. Sat Paul Sharma announced an allocation of ₹5 lakh from his MPLAD funds for the development of the University. Similarly, Honble MLA Sh. Vikram Randhawa announced ₹5 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for development-related initiatives of the University. The announcements were warmly appreciated by the University fraternity and were seen as a strong expression of support for strengthening educational an sports infrastructure at Cluster University of Jammu.
The distinguished gathering included Dr. Twinkle Suri, Dean Academic Affairs, Ms.
Ankur Mahajan, Registrar and Prof. Ranvijay Singh, Controller of Examinations, besides various Deans of the University, Principals of Constituent Colleges, Associate Deans and Assistant Deans of Student Welfare, Officers of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Physical Directors of Constituent Colleges, Faculty Members, Coaches and other University Functionaries.
The proceedings of the program were carried out in a coherent way by Dr. Sugandha
Mahajan, that culminated with the presentation of the Overall Championship Trophy, followed by the concluding proceedings. The Dean, Students; Welfare Prof. Vishal Sharma, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Special Guest, Honble Vice-Chancellor, University Officers, Deans, Principals, Faculty Members, Coaches,Physical Education personnel, students and all those who contributed to the successful organization of the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony 2026.
