Devastating Hailstorm Wreaks Havoc on Bishnah’s Basmati Crop; MLA Dr. Rajeev Bhagat Demands Immediate Compensation

Bishnah, October 1, 2025 : The Bishnah Constituency is grappling with a severe agricultural crisis following a devastating hailstorm that swept through the area during the midnight hours of September 30 and October 1, 2025. The intense weather event has inflicted extensive and ruinous damage upon the standing Basmati Rice Crop, the lifeblood of the local farming community, plunging them into acute distress just as the harvest season was approaching.

MLA Dr. Rajeev Bhagat wasted no time in personally assessing the catastrophic situation. Today, he visited the worst-affected areas, meeting with grief-stricken farmers to witness the scale of the destruction firsthand. The farmers, facing the total ruin of a significant portion of their annual income, apprised the MLA of their dire circumstances, highlighting the complete loss of their prized Basmati produce due to the intensity of the hailstorm. The sight of flattened and stripped rice fields underscored the necessity for urgent governmental intervention.

In response to the gravity of the situation, Dr. Rajeev Bhagat immediately took action. He communicated telephonically with revenue authorities, issuing an urgent directive to conduct a thorough and factual ground report. The primary objective of this assessment is to precisely quantify the exact extent of the crop losses across the constituency.

“The financial hardship inflicted upon our farmers is unimaginable. This Basmati crop is their primary source of livelihood, and its complete ruin means they cannot wait,” Dr. Bhagat stated, emphasizing the urgency of the matter. He further pressed the revenue department to take all necessary steps to ensure that timely and adequate compensation is provided to the affected farmers without any undue delay. His firm stance aims to mitigate the significant financial burden now weighing on the farming families of Bishnah.

Dr. Bhagat was accompanied by several prominent local figures who are rallying support for the affected community. Among those accompanying the MLA were Shri Supinder Sharma, General Secretary Arnia Mandal; Bihari Lal, Chairman Joian; Pawan Kumar; Naresh Kumar; Billa Fouji; and Capt. Bodh Raj. Their presence at the site provided moral support to the distressed farmers and highlighted the widespread community concern over the disaster.
