*Anantnag Police Intensify Crackdown on Drug Trafficking: 5 Peddlers Arrested*

ย January 10: As part of its ongoing drive against drug trafficking, Police achieved major successes by arresting 6 peddlers in Anantnag and Sopore and recovering psychotropic substances from their possession.
ย In Anantnag, during Naka checking at Halmulla Sangam, a vehicle (Wagon-R) bearing registration number JK01M-4136 with three persons on board was intercepted. During the search, 21 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Javid Ahmad Sheikh son of Ab. Gani Sheikh of Kuchmulla Tral, Mohd Altaf Sheikh son of Gh Mohd Sheikh of Kanihama Nowgam Srinagar and Mohd Haroon Parry son of Mohd Sadiq Parry of Charsoo Awantipora. Vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized. Similarly in another operation, a Truck bearing registration number JK01AS-5073 belonging to Jupiter Cargo Transport Company Srinagar was stopped for inspection at Jablipora NHW near Fruit Mandi. The search led to the recovery of 10 bottles of Codeine Phosphate. The truck driver identified as Javaid Ahmad Shah son of Mohd Yousuf Shah and the conductor said the vehicle identified as Shabir Ahmad Shah son of Ali Mohd Shah both residents of Bahoo, Awantipora were arrested. Vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized.
In Sopore, during a Naka checking at Naidhal Crossing Crossing, a police team led by SHO PS Panzalla intercepted an individual namely Shakir Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Majoo Sheikh resident of Noorbagh Baramulla. Upon his search, 32.3 grams of Cahras-like substance and 64 Capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated. These actions underscore the unwavering commitment of the Police to combat the drug menace and protect the community.
