Indian Army organised a lecture on “Beti Bachhao Beti Padhao” campaign at villages Badakhana, Saaj , Durnigala, Lam and PWS Sabra of Poonch and Rajouri districts with an aim to generate awareness and improving the efficiency of welfare services meant for women. The event was organised to bring awareness amongst the members of society to include youth and school children, about importances of girl child and their education. The speaker highlighted the inequality, lack of opportunity and ill treatment of women in various parts of the country. The speaker also brought out the need to save the girl child as imbalance in the male to female ratio is causing problems in the society which need to be addressed on priority. The awareness drive was well received by the audiance and they acknowledged that the girls also need to be provided same education and growth opportunities as given to boys. Indian Army is committed to spread awareness drive in the remote regions by conducting lectures, workshops and seminars on important social issues.
