GIRLS VOLLEYBALL COMPETITION ORGANISED BY INDIAN ARMY AT POTHA

In continuation of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” Indian Army promoted sports activity, volleyball competition for girls at Potha, High School in District Rajouri (J&K). Volleyball has already been popular sports game among boys. It was decided to encourage girls to play this game. Volleyball will be more popular among girls because it is more strategy than force and girls tends to be more precise in their moves. Indian Army coach provided coaching to them on rules and regulations of the game. It is seen girls easily adopt to basic skills of volleyball serving, passing, setting, blocking. The competition instilled a sense of sportsmanship as well as competitive spirit amongst the girls. The event identified the local talents and provides them with a platform to showcase their skill as well as boost their confidence to participate in larger forums. Playing this game will provide regular physical exercise to girls for their well being. It will be a fabulous way to get the muscles active in a fun and exciting manner. This sport will teach team value of “Team Work and Goal Setting”. Parents and teachers appreciated the efforts of the Indian Army as a facilitator in promotion of games for “Girls Empowerment”.
