Government Polytechnic Jammu organized 5th Faizal Abbas Rolling
Trophy inter-department volley ball tournament in the college in which eight teams of
different departments will participate. The tournament was started in the year 2016 on
the name of late Mr. Faizal Abbas student of Architecture. At the start a homage was
paid to him by all the staff and students of the college.
The tournament was inaugurated by Er. Arun Bangotra Principal
Government Polytechnic Jammu who was the Chief Guest of the occasion, while Sh.
Inderjeet Singh Workshop Superintendent and Sh. Raj Kumar HOD Mechanical
Engineering were Guest of honour of the event. While speaking on the occasion Er.
Arun Bangotra Principal Government Polytechnic Jammu further laid stress on the
importance of sports activities and encouraged the students to participate in sports
activities which develops the quality of leadership, sense of responsibility and create the
feeling of oneness by working together to become the good citizen of India.
The tournament was organized under the overall supervision of Sh. Amit
Kumar Sharma, Lecturer, Travel and Tourism and I/C Sports Secretary, Mr. Chamel
Singh, Physical Education Master, Ms. Toshi Devi, PET of Sports Department.
In the 1 st Match, the students of Civil Engg. beat Architecture
Assistantship by 2-0 sets (25-20, 25-18). In the 2 nd Match, the students of Electrical
Engg, defeated Instrumentation and Control, by 2-0 sets (25-13, 25-17). In the 3 rd
Match, the students of Automobile Engg won by 2-1 sets (26-24, 25-20, 25-22) from
Mechanical Engg while in the 4 th Match, the students of Travel & Tourism was defeated
by Computer Engg by 2-0 sets (25-17, 25-17, 25-19).
The others who were present on the occasion were Sh. Sanjay Koul HOD
Computer Engg, Sh. Yogesh Raina I/c Automobile Engg, Sh. Ashok Verma Lecturer
(A/a) I&C, Sh. Vishal Sharma Demonstrator Mechanical Engg, Sh. Manmohan Singh
Bhatia Workshop Instructor and students of the college.
