Doda : 17 Jan 2025: As a goodwill gesture and in continuance of its commitment to working for the welfare of the general public, with the aim of providing essential healthcare services to the locals and the Gujjar & Bakkarwal community, the Indian Army organized a Medical & Veterinary Camp for locals and livestock at Chanti village. The aim of this camp was to deliver basic medical services at the doorsteps of the medically underserved residing in remote and far-flung villages, and to provide veterinary support for animals and medical facilities for the Gujjar and Bakkarwals, thereby offering them the necessary basic healthcare for them and their livestock. During the camp, a team of doctors from the Indian Army and Civil services, examination including a Lady Medical Officer and Veterinary Specialist, attended to the patients and livestock requiring medical care.
The event offered a comprehensive range of medical services, including consultations, check-ups, and treatments for both the livestock and their handlers. A total of 150 males and 110 females were provided with free medical care, along with preliminary investigations and medicines for commonly occurring ailments. Moreover, 65 livestock, including sheep, goats, cows, and horses, were also treated and provided with free medicines during the camp. The camp witnessed a remarkable turnout and made a significant impact on both the locals and animal handlers. The local populace appreciated this endeavor of the Armed Forces to address their genuine needs and aspirations. This camp will go a long way in alleviating the health issues of the local population and their livestock, further strengthening the bonds of friendship between the Indian Army and the local AWAAM.
