Indian Railways’ Ferozepur Division has started transporting Kashmir’s famous cherries to major markets across the country, including Maharashtra and Gujarat, via high-speed rail from Amritsar.
The initiative has benefited cherry growers in Kashmir while ensuring consumers get fresh produce from the valley.
With special parcel vans and logistical support, the cherries reach Vadodara and Surat in about 29 hours and Mumbai’s Bandra in around 31 hours, maintaining freshness and quality.
