JAMMU, Mar 16: In an effort to promote vocational development and self-employment opportunities among unemployed youth and women, an interactive programme was organised by All J&K Shree Guru Ravidass Sabha at the Gurudwara Complex, Krishna Nagar. The event was held in collaboration with the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) under the Directorate of Jammu and Kashmir (UT).
The programme aimed to create awareness about skill development and self-employment schemes among unemployed qualified, semi-qualified housewives, and youth associated with different technical and professional activities belonging to the SC, ST, OBC and other weaker sections of society.
The event was organised under the leadership of Er. Rajesh Kumar, Director KVIC J&K (UT). The programme commenced with an introductory address by Chief Spokesperson Prof. C.L. Shivgotra, who highlighted the objectives of the initiative and stressed the importance of vocational training and entrepreneurship for improving the economic condition of disadvantaged communities.
During the session, Er. Rajesh Kumar provided detailed information about various schemes implemented by KVIC for promoting vocational skills and entrepreneurship. He explained how individuals and groups can benefit from these schemes by forming Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and establishing small-scale income generation units. He also informed participants about the financial and technical support available through the department for setting up such enterprises.
Speaking on the occasion, Er. R.C. Bhasin emphasised the importance of organising such awareness programmes for the socio-economic upliftment of weaker sections. He said that skill development and small-scale enterprises can play a significant role in improving the economic wellbeing of society.
Prof. G.L. Thapa also addressed the gathering and highlighted the benefits of various schemes being implemented by KVIC for community development.
Later, Tarsem Loach expressed gratitude to the KVIC officials and participants for their valuable presence. He stated that the Sabha would continue organising such programmes in the future to promote economic empowerment and vocational development within society.
The programme was attended by several executive members of the Sabha including Tara Chand, Surjeet Singh Heer and Bodh Raj Kalsi, along with a large number of participants.
