Udhampur: 20 Jul 2023: On 7 Jul 1999, 2nd Battalion the Naga Regiment (Mashokh Warriors) had captured ‘Twin Bumps’ in Dras Sector during the Kargil War. In order to commemorate the commencement of Silver Jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas and pay tribute to its brave hearts, the Indian Army embarked upon a Motorcycle Expedition from Kohima to Kargil from 02 Jul to 22 Jul 2023. The expedition was conceptualised by Parashu Brigade and is being led by the brave ‘Mashkoh Warriors’ under the aegis of Fire and Fury Corps.
Over last 20 days, the expedition team has traversed over 3000 along our Northern Borders and reached Udhampur. The expedition was flagged off by Chief of Staff, Northern Command from Udhampur on 20 Jul 2023. The expedition team consisting of two Officers, two Junior Commissioned Officers and 21 soldiers will eventually reach Dras on 22 Jul 2023 and pay tribute to the martyrs at Kargil War Memorial.
This expedition is first of its kind with an aim to connect the two extremities of our nation along the Northern Borders and to demonstrate Indian Army’s resolve of safeguarding the borders. Besides motivating the youth about Agniveer scheme, the team also interacted with various sections of society and highlighted the role of Indian Army in nation building. The team has endeavoured to epitomise the invincible Warrior Spirit, courage and spirit of adventure of the Indian Army Jawan.
