NPP welcomes Union Ministers in J&K with black flags

BJP cheated people over holiday on 23rd September, restoration of statehood to J&K: Harsh Dev

Jammu, 21-09-2021:  Agitated over BJP govt for ignoring the most cherished aspirations of people with respect to declaration of September 23rd as a State holiday to commemorate Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday besides restoration of Statehood to J&K, a strong battalion of Panther activists holding black flags staged a thunderous protest demonstration against the GoI for showing disregard to the sentiments of the Dogras. The infuriated protesters spearheaded by Mr. Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman-JKNPP and Mr. Yash Paul Kundal, General Secretary-NPP & Ex-Minister waved black flags to welcome the visiting Union Ministers while raising anti-govt slogans like Central Ministers, Go back, Go back; Kendriya Mantriyon Hisaab do, Jawaab do; 23 September ko chutti Ghoshit karo, Ghoshit karo; J&K Rajya ka darja Bahal karo, Bahal karo. Meanwhile, the NPP leaders had scuffle with the deployed contingent of J&K police which had raised huge barricades to restrain the protesters from marching further.

While addressing the media, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh questioned the double standards of BJP which endorsed the demand of the Jammu people for holiday on 23rd September while in opposition but refused to act over the same after ascending the throne of power. He said that the revered Maharaja shall always be remembered for showcasing his nationalistic ethos when he acceded the State of J&K to the Union of India by signing the historic Instrument of Accession of 26th October, 1947. He wondered that holiday on  Maharaja’s Birthday was denied by so called nationalist party despite the late Dogra ruler’s colossal contributions having made millions of nationalist people of the State to call themselves as proud Indians. “Maharaja Hari Singh was the icon of secularism and modern democracy who introduced several social reforms in the fields of Judiciary, Education, Revenue, Finance etc. His contribution towards women empowerment, alleviation of racial discrimination on the basis of caste, creed and colour was impeccable and visionary. “Ironically, September 23 was despicably ignored with a obnoxious motive to disparage the achievements of the Maharaja and to hurt the sentiments of the Dogras by none other than BJP government”, Harsh rued. Regretting the opposition to the holiday in previous govt despite resolution to the effect having been passed in legislative council, Mr. Singh deplored in particular the servile posturing of the then BJP Ministers who failed to get the same implemented while in power. “Why did the BJP Ministers remained tight lipped in cabinet meetings with regard to holiday issue on Maharaja’s birthday? And why did they remain as mute spectators when one of the Kashmir based MLAs blatantly dared to use derogatory and foul parlance against the Dogra ruler inside the Assembly?”, Harsh questioned. He said BJP will have to answer all these questions before the peoples’ court.

Reiterating the demand of restoration of Statehood to J&K, Mr. Harsh Dev and Yash Paul Kundal said that on 5th Aug 2019, the BJP led govt at the centre had caused the greatest embitterment in the hearts and minds of the people by denigrating the status of statehood to a Union Territory. Mr. Singh said that it was the only ‘Dogra state’ in the country which was conceptualized and created by our revered rulers and extended with countless sacrifices made by Dogra warriors. He said the past two years witnessed massive public uprisings against the anti Jammu and anti people policies of the ruling dispensation. “The economy was worst impacted and development came to a standstill. The arrogant and power intoxicated BJP continued to use the coercive apparatus of state to silence all those who dared raise their voice for justice and sought fulfillment of promises made by it during elections. Every sect of the society is suffering. The youth are on the roads, may it be daily wagers of all the departments, Contractual employees, SPOs and Home guards, NHM employees, ASHA/Anganwadi workers, Dental surgeons, Contractual teachers and lecturers, BSF/CISF aspirants, ReK aspirants, NHM employees, NYCs/ NYVs, MGNREGA labourers, Trained pharmacists, SHG engineers, Terminated employees of Health deptt, etc. The farmers, the border dwellers, the traders including shopkeepers and businessmen all have been bearing the brunt of apathetic and callous attitude of the bureaucracy which is ruling the roost in absence of the popular elected government. It has remained averse to the woes of the people as the officers sitting at the helm of the affairs have no connect with the people”, anguish Harsh said.

Mr. Kundal said that if a huge battalion of 70 central Ministers comprising almost the entire union cabinet could not fulfill demands of the Nationalist people, they had no right to approach the people during elections for votes. Panthers Party along with every sect of the society will launch mass movement in the days to come until the cherished aspirations of the people were addressed and fulfilled by the govt, asserted Mr. Kundal.
