Ramban: 30 May, 2023: On 29/05/2023, Ramban Police foiled a Narcotics smuggling bid at Batote and arrested two persons with Poppy Straw like substance. While on routine naka checking duty, police party of police station Batote intercepted a vehicle Maruti Alto bearing registration number JK19-2406, which was on its way from Nashri towards Batote. During checking, 23 kg 740 grams of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered from the boot space of the vehicle. On enquiry, driver disclosed his identity as Tanveer Ahmed @Pappu S/O Shabir Hussain R/O Champa, Tehsil Batote, District Ramban and other person accompanying the driver disclosed his identity as Javid Ahmed S/O Manzoor @Nazir Ahmed R/O Champa, Batote. Both the persons were arrested on the spot, vehicle and contraband seized. In this regard, a case FIR No. 83/2023 u/s 8/15/29 NDPS Act stands registered at P/S Batote and investigation is set into motion.
The arrest and recovery was made by the police party of PS Batote under the command of *Insp Rajesh Khajuria SHO Batote under supervision of DySP Hqrs Ramban Sh Pardeep Singh Sen JKPS and under the overall supervision of SSP Ramban Ms Mohita Sharma IPS*.
