Shiv Sena protests over not bringing petrol diesel under GST

BJP Govt in no mood to give relief to common masses: Sahni
JAMMU, Sep 18: Shiv Sena (Bala Saheb Thackeray)  Jammu and Kashmir unit staged a protest against the non-inclusion of petrol-diesel in the purview of GST.
Led by Party’s J&K President Manish Sahni, the party activists raised slogans against the BJP Government at the Centre for not bringing fuel under the purview of GST.
Pertinent to mention here that according to economists, petrol price could touch Rs 75 per litre it the brought under the ambit of the GST and diesel could be priced as low as Rs 68 per litre if GST becomes applicable on the fuel.
Talking to reporters here, Sahni questioned the intention of the government and said that the government is in no mood to give relief in the rising petrol-diesel prices.
In the recently concluded GST Council meeting, no decision was taken on bringing petrol diesel under the ambit of GST which proves that the government is more concerned about its treasury than the public. The government is proving to be an all-round failure in providing relief to the people from the skyrocketing inflation.
Sahni said that the high inflation is due to the wrong policies of the central government. “The NDA government has continued to pretend that the concern about price rise is a false concern and, if the government ignores the issue, the issue will go away. Shiv Sena condemns the callous negligence of the government on the issue of price rise,” he said.
Sawhney said that if petrol diesel was brought under the purview of GST, then the public would have got relief of Rs 26 in petrol and about Rs 20 in diesel. Sahni said that the decision to continue dacoity on the pockets of the public is condemnable. There is no ray of hope regarding the relief from economic slowdown, unemployment and inflation.
Shiv Sena demanded that the Central Government should immediately reduce, substantially, the prices of petrol and diesel. On this occasion President Women’s Wing Meenakshi Chhibber, General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, Chairman Rakesh Gupta, Vice President Sanjeev Kohli, Balwant Singh, President Kamgar Wing Raj Singh, Secretary Geeta Lakhotra, President RS Pura Balwant Singh, President Samba Neelam Singh, Pooja Devi, President  Akhnoor Satish Sharma, Rameshwar Singh, Akash, Vivek Verma, Sahil, Ravindra Kumar, Rohit, Amarjeet, Aman, Sohan Lal, Vishal Gupta, Ashok Kumar, Rajindra, Balwant and many others were present.
