The UN began the NewYear2026 with a sharply reduced regular budget of 3.45 billion US dollars, amid a severe cash crunch, and plans to implement 19% job cuts across the organisation. The approved budget is about 270 million US dollars, or 7.25%, lower than the 3.72 billion US dollars allocated in the year 2025.
