“Shaheed Capt Atul Somra Cricket League 2021-22” organised by Indian Army at Banihal with full enthusiasm from 01 Nov to 19 Nov 2021. Capt Atul Somra belonging to Ambala Cantt, Haryana had done the supreme sacrifice for the nation by laying his life for the motherland on 18 Jul 2002. This tournament organised to commemorate his sacrifice and pay homage to the brave soul. The tournament was heartfully reciprocated by the village youth with their overwhelming participation. Total of 40 teams from different parts of Ramban District participated in the tournament and toiled hard for the coveted trophy. The tournament was played on knock out basis. Final match of the tournament was played between RCB Banihal and Warrior IX Banihal at Govt Higher Secondary School. RCB, Banihal won Shaheed Capt Atul Somra Cricket League 2021-22. Tajamul Islam, U-14 Kickboxing World Champion was the Chief Guest on this occasion and various other civil dignitaries were also present during the closing ceremony. As a token of appreciation medals and trophies were awarded to the finalists. The village populace thanked the Indian Army wholeheartedly for their initiative to motivate the sporting talent of the area and appreciated the efforts for providing such a platform to the youth of the area.
