JAMMU : The Shiv Sena (Bala Saheb Thackeray) Jammu and Kashmir Unit staged a strong protest against the increasing criminal cases against women in the Union Territory and demanded women’s police station in every district besides a Women’s Cell facility in every police station.
During the protest , led by Shiv Sena President UT J&K , Manish Sahni accused the government of not being serious on this significant issue which is evident from the fact that ten districts of Jammu and Kashmir including Samba, Reasi ,
Ramban, Kulgam and Shopian do not have women police station. which can be one of the main reason for increasing crime against women.
Sahni referred to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report and lamented that according to this report there has been an 11 percent increase in domestically violence and other criminal offences against women in Jammu and Kashmir as compared to 2020, which is a matter of deep concern. Sahni said that due to the non-availability of women police station and the allied desks, substantial number of cases of crimes against women remain unreported thus not finding place in the data compiled officially.
